If you're considering trying Muay Thai Kickboxing for the first time, you're not alone. Every student who walks through our doors started as a beginner. At Striker Lab Muay Thai Kickboxing, we make sure your first class is welcoming, educational, and fun — whether you're from Coconut Creek, Parkland, Coral Springs, Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, or Delray Beach.
Whether your goal is to get in shape, learn self-defense, build confidence, or simply try something new, our coaches will guide you through every step of the process.
Step 1: Welcome and Introduction
When you arrive at Striker Lab, you'll be greeted by one of our experienced coaches and given a quick tour of the facility. We'll explain how class works, answer your questions, and help you feel comfortable before training begins.
No experience? No problem. Many of our students started with absolutely no martial arts background.
Step 2: Hand Wrapping and Equipment
Before class begins, we'll teach you how to properly wrap your hands to protect your wrists and knuckles.
If you don't have equipment yet, don't worry. We'll help you get started and explain how gloves and other training gear are used throughout class.
Step 3: Dynamic Warm-Up
Every class begins with a warm-up designed to prepare your body for training safely and effectively.
Your warm-up may include:
- Jump rope
- Light cardio exercises
- Dynamic stretching
- Mobility drills
- Footwork training
The goal is to improve movement, increase blood flow, and get you ready to learn.
Step 4: Learning Real Muay Thai Technique
At Striker Lab, we teach authentic Muay Thai Kickboxing — not cardio kickboxing.
You'll learn:
- Proper fighting stance
- Footwork and movement
- Jab, cross, hooks, and uppercuts
- Powerful kicks
- Defensive skills
- Balance and coordination
Our coaches break techniques down into easy-to-understand steps so beginners can learn quickly and safely.
Step 5: Pad Work and Bag Training
This is often everyone's favorite part of class.
You'll practice techniques on kick shields, Thai pads, and heavy bags while working directly with coaches and training partners.
Pad work helps develop:
- Coordination
- Timing
- Speed
- Power
- Conditioning
- Confidence
You'll leave feeling accomplished and energized.
Step 6: Conditioning and Fitness
Muay Thai is one of the most effective full-body workouts available.
During class you'll improve:
- Cardiovascular endurance
- Strength
- Core stability
- Flexibility
- Athletic performance
Every workout can be adjusted to fit your current fitness level, making it perfect for beginners and experienced athletes alike.
Step 7: Cool Down and Review
At the end of class, we'll cool down, stretch, and review the techniques learned that day.
Our coaches will answer any questions you have and help you prepare for your next class.
By the time you leave, you'll have learned real skills and gained a better understanding of what Muay Thai training is all about.
What If I'm Out Of Shape?
One of the most common concerns we hear is:
"I want to start, but I need to get in shape first."
The truth is, you don't get in shape to start Muay Thai.
You start Muay Thai to get in shape.
Our classes are designed for all fitness levels, and our coaches will help you progress at a pace that's right for you.
Will I Have To Spar?
No.
Your first classes focus on learning proper technique, building confidence, and developing skills.
Sparring is always optional, closely supervised, and only introduced when students are ready.
Our goal is to create a positive, supportive environment where everyone can learn safely.
